This bike came into the shop in fair condition. It was not running, but it wasn't badly beaten up. It needed a little bodywork and a paint job. It had the original ugly brown Honda paint, and needed a paint job just for that reason, but there were also minor dents in the tank. It needed carburetor work, and needed the stator to be changed. Engine was getting no fuel and no spark. Compression was also low.
This was early in the tear-down, lowering engine out of the frame. One of the biggest issues with the CX500's was stator failure. It often resulted in the bike being parked. It was an expensive repair, requiring the engine to be removed from the frame.
